Damien: Omen II 1978
So I watched this movie during writing of Inferno by Dan Brown and
I must say that I kinda liked it even for a movie that is from the
dark ages as a matter of speech.
The story starts seven years in the past as some kind of intro following some badshit crazy guy going to an archeleogist to convince him that this toddler was almost killed by his father is the antichrist. Ofcourse the guy that does need some convincing is taken to a wall where the kid is painted on the wall for some reason and they are closed in. The painting was of some kind of prophet that foretold the face of the antichrist and some non important stuff about it.
They are then caved it in that digsite, we then cut to seven years later were the boy called damien now adopted by his uncle and his second wife. The history is known and what happened around the world by now and an old aunt is warning the uncle who is the fatherfigure now. She warns him that if he wants her inheritance his own son and Damien aren't held apart she will make up her will and someone else will get her inheritance. In the night she is killed by a raven.
The boys now in an us military academy are going about their schooling life and it is revealed thatre Damien has some special powers and strange things start happening, not only around Damien but also around others who try to harm the boy who are miles away, some people know what he is and damien soon learns what he is and continues to kill his cousin that grew up together with him and they always tought of one another as brothers given their close bond they created during growing up .
Near the end his father figure (aka his uncle) is convinced that Damen is the antichrist and now suffers from the same so called madness he always said his brother had while attempting to kill his own son, and before damnien unbeknownst to the rest of the world killed his mother and now the same thing happened to them. Kinda ironic I think!
My opinion about this movie is that it is a shame I didn't watch the first movie first. But the other 2 movies aren't on netflix as of yet. But it is a good movie nevertheless. I enjoyed watching it while trying to occupy my mind during article writing which for me is a kind of brainless activity. It is a little bit to light on the religion part but when it does it is kind of heavy on the christian religion. And it is also very clear that this is the second part of a movietrilliogy. I give this movie 6,5/10
