Priest, a review (2011)
Hello there,
You guys might very well know now I have Netflix and on there is a movie called Priest. taking place in an alternate earth where vampires are real but not human (in their original form) but eyeless humanoids
In this world where vampires exist in some sort of humanoid form without eyes, there has been raging a war between humanity and these before mentioned vampires who are more some kind of human insects who are nasty.
We recieve an intro of the wars that have been fought between the two races which lead to the creation of a warrior called priest and the clergy who are based on the catholic church and ofcourse with modern technology this leads to an orwellian society. the thing is that after the main war has ended the priests are jobless and are trying to reintegrate into society but for some reason they (the heroes of the war I suppose, but where not shown what happened during the war that made them so shunned) are shunned.
Our story begins tough when a new breed is ready to go to war, with hybrids running around the place and their leader who was a priest in the last war kidnaps a girl who is a daughter of our main guy. Intresting thing is they have all (male AND female) have made a vow of celibacy but our main guy already ad a family when the clergy found him and made him a priest.
The plot advances because of his search of our main guy's search and betrayal of the clergy and eventually leading to the end of the movie (who would tought that movies had an end) but for our group of "heroes" the story didn't end as the movies suggests a sequel and even possible prequels.
My opinion about this movie is that it deserves a prequel and a sequel. As this world has a potential to have more story to it than just we blew up a train and now we live happely after. The cgi was great and the actors performed also greatly in this flick that is certainly watchable on the scale of cringyness! There fore I only give it a 3 out of 10 on the not totally made up scale of cringiness which gives it a score of 7/10 for me!
