Beneath the skin (by nicci french) (part 1 review)

Hello there,

I found out that I didn't translate this review of this book yet. And I tought that it was a shame so here is a review of the first part of the book,
I have finished reading Sanctus but right now I'm to tired to write that out.

Zoe
So the first part of this book is about Zoe, a young female british kindergarten teacher. She is a granddaughter of this armenian immigrant in great britain. She builds her life in London as like I said a Kindergarden teacher and has a couple of boyfriends and stuff.
She becomes a local celebrity as she blocked the way of robber with a watermelon. From that point onward, she gets interviewed by a local newspaper and she immidiatly gets fanmail for some reason, she also gets a stalker. Which eventually gets an anticlimatic ending in my opinion
My opinion and other irritating stuff
Well I quite enjoyed reading this part of the book as I view it as a nice opening for this book. I don't understand quite what is happening which I happen to find fantastic really. I really wanted to know who the one is who is stalking the girl even and what his (it is heavily implied that it is a man) problem is.

Storyline

This part follows Jennifer, the wife of some kind of rich lawyer that doesn't have anything to do (the woman) than raise her children (for which she has hired someone for) and to decorate her new house.
She has a son that does acting classes. She has her doubts if this son is gay or not. And because this guy has chosen a nickname and I have my doubts myself because of this. (my brother is gay don't shoot me please)
Her other children don't get described that much but that one I talked about hates his mother but he is prolly just stoked by the nanny.

Now that was a bit offtopic abit, but the moment she starts recieving letters (for some reason I don't remember) the police comes in and starts investigating. Zoe has been dead since tha last chapter. I hoped that she solely had been captured or something. Her husband, who is almost never home gets arrested because it.

My opinion and other irritating stuff

There is not much to say but that I find the cops to be amateurs or something. Still nothing has been seen about the person who is doing this. And I think that in the next chapter we will see there much more in the next chapter.

Nadia

In this chapter we follow Nadia, also a female, a young lady to be exact and has a small time company with her compagnion as a clown thingie. But suddenly, she also gets strange letters and goes to the police almost imidiatly.

Like Jennifer she is kind of confused why she would get such letters not thinking she is that special and thinking it is just someone that is bored and not someone that is being serious. And because she meets a kid at one of her clients did have his mother killed (the woman from the last chapter) and because of that this is the first female that goes researching this guy.
Leading to the end, she has some leverage because she slept with one of her guards. And gets access to the police records

this is how she finds the lead to the guy who is responsible for the murders

My opinion and other irritating stuff

Personally, I think the ending was something anti climactic. I was a bit dissappointed of the ending but I found it good :)
